Nicholas Wilks says, “We started rehearsing back in September, and are looking forward to sharing with our audience a fresh take on the music when we perform it. We want to treat the requiem as the work of a young man, serious in its reflections on bereavement and loss, certainly, but also highly original, particularly in its choice of text. It’s a work which is sometimes spoiled by an over-reverential approach - slow speeds and the use of a musty old Victorian English translation. It is deeply moving and ultimately uplifting in its celebration of
shared human experience and in its consoling message of hope.”
